WooCommerce admin load time with and without Disable Bloat

How much faster do WooCommerce admin screens load with Disable Bloat's out-of-the-box settings? We timed four admin pages on a real WooCommerce store, then compared Disable Bloat with Asset CleanUp on the storefront.

Measured November 2026. Method and test setup below.

  • −41% server response on the Orders screen (1.71 s → 1.00 s)
  • −36% server response on the Products list (1.98 s → 1.26 s)
  • −15 requests on the storefront homepage (93 → 78)

WooCommerce admin: server response

Median time to first byte for a logged-in admin, 15 interleaved rounds. Disable Bloat on its defaults: WooCommerce Admin, the Marketing hub and the WooCommerce.com notice turned off.

WooCommerce Home 1,191 ms 1,086 ms −9%
Dashboard 999 ms 1,040 ms +4%

Storefront homepage: what loads

Guest visit to the homepage, median of 10 runs. Disable Bloat with the store's saved settings; Asset CleanUp (free) with the matching site-wide switches only, no per-page unloading.

How we measured

We loaded each page 11 times in headless Chrome, each time in a fresh browser with an empty cache, threw away the first load and report the median of the other 10. Admin server response was measured separately with curl as a logged-in administrator: we switched between “without” and “with Disable Bloat” every round for 15 rounds, so background jobs (wp-cron, Action Scheduler) affect both equally.

Only the plugin under test changed between runs; the other plugins, theme and content stayed the same. Page caching was off so the numbers show what the plugin itself changes.

Asset CleanUp can’t remove anything from wp-admin in its free version, so we compared the two on the storefront, using only the Asset CleanUp switches that have a Disable Bloat equivalent. Asset CleanUp can also unload individual files page by page, which we didn’t measure.

Questions

Which Disable Bloat settings were used?

For the admin test, the out-of-the-box defaults: WooCommerce Admin, the Marketing hub and the WooCommerce.com connect notice turned off. For the storefront test, the store’s saved settings, which turn on most of the front-end switches.

Why did the Dashboard not get faster?

Disable Bloat’s defaults target WooCommerce screens. The WordPress Dashboard gets faster mainly by hiding dashboard widgets, which wasn’t part of the default settings tested here.

Can I reproduce this?

Yes. The setup and method are above; the same approach works on a staging copy of your own store. Results will differ with your plugins and hosting.
